QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"To ask the Chief Executive if builders at the new primary health care centre on Boot Road have adhered to traffic management plans on this site. Specifically why work has necessitated the closure of footpath leading from Fonthill Road/Boot Road Junction that has caused a dangerous situation for pedestrians to navigate here?"

REPLY:

The Developer has consulted with the Traffic Department on the works necessary at the Health Care Centre site.  The works involve deep excavation works immediately adjacent to the Boot Road Footpath.  The footpath needs to be closed off during the construction in order to protect the Public.  The developer has provided a temporary crossing point at the start of the works which allows pedestrians to cross to the other footpath and continue to the main Traffic lighted junction where pedestrians can travel onwards safely in any direction.
