QUESTION NO.6

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the CEO if he is now in a position to arrange the long promised meeting with local stakeholders in respect of the need for improvements and development of Butler/McGee Park; will he detail contacts he has had regarding issues of concern in the Park and will he make a statement?".

REPLY:

Arrangements will be made to meet the various stakeholders in relation to improvements being sought to Butler McGee Park.  The issues raised in relation to this matter have for the most part been made through area committee business and members reps submitted by the local elected councillors.  The issues raised in recent times include the following -

  1. The replacement of 2 kissing gates with K barriers which has been requested is due to take place in the coming weeks.
  2. A proposal to plant wildflowers in the park was put forward by way of a motion on the February agenda of this area committee and this will be considered for inclusion in the 2022 public realm improvement works programme.
  3. A request was received to install a footpath from Drumcairn Parade to St Mark's GAA complex, this requires closer examination and discussion between the interested parties before a decision can be made as to whether it can proceed or not.
