To amend the Development Plan at Chapter 9, EDE22 Obj 5 to include 'to ensure appropriate infrastructure to support local outdoor markets'

REPORT:

Motion requests that EDE22 Objective 5: ‘To support local outdoor markets and festivals in appropriate locations within the County.’ Be amended as follows

Motion requests that EDE22 Objective 5: ‘To support local outdoor markets and festivals in appropriate locations within the County and to ensure appropriate infrastructure to support local outdoor markets’

The County Development Plan is a strategic document which addressed strategic land use planning issues in the County. While the provisions of EDE22 Objective 5 addresses the strategic issue of supporting festivals and outdoor markets in the County specific developments will be subject to the relevant planning or licencing process. It is through this process that the assessment of what is appropriate infrastructure to support such development should be carried out. It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment to include the provision of associated enabling infrastructure.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this amendment is adopted with amendment to read as follows;

EDE22 Objective 5: To support local outdoor markets and festivals and associated enabling infrastructure in appropriate locations within the County.
