MOTION: Councillor Yvonne Collins

Chapter 9: Economic Development and Employment: EDE22 Objective 5: add the following words at the end of EDE22 Objective 5 “including outdoor festivals as a key driver for tourism growth”.

REPORT:

Original EDE22 Objective 5 states: To support local outdoor markets and festivals in appropriate locations within the County.

 

The proposed motion seeks to reword the objective to read: EDE22 Objective 5: To support local outdoor markets and festivals in appropriate locations within the County including outdoor festivals as a key driver for tourism growth

 The CE Draft Plan contains a number of policies supporting concert and festival events across the County including EDE22 Objective 4 and EDE22 Objective 5 which supports concerts or events at suitable locations. The detailed policy around these events is a matter for the County Tourism Strategy. However, there is no objection to the addition of the wording proposed subject to minor amendment.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion is amended to read with Objective EDE22 reading as follows.

EDE22 Objective 5: To support local outdoor markets and festivals in appropriate locations within the County including outdoor festivals as drivers for tourism growth.
