MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That this Council set an aim or objective to Work on South Dublin County Council as a Fairtrade County and this is put in the Development plan

REPORT:

The proposed motion seeks to include an aim or objective in the Development Plan with regard to Fairtrade.

South Dublin County Council supports the sourcing of all quality and good value products in an equitable manner, as set out in the Fairtrade agreement worldwide. However, it is not the role of the County Development Plan to implement this, or to identify one quality trademark product body over another.

Recommendation:   

It is recommended that the motion is not adopted.
