MOTION: Councillor M. Duff, Councillor P. Kearns, Councillor Alan Edge

IE 3 Objective 7: Add 'and to diagnose and repair any misconnections in Council housing stock as part of the re-letting process ' To read: 'To protect surface water quality by continuing to assess the impact of domestic and industrial misconnections to the drainage network in the County and the associated impact on surface water quality, and by implementing measures to address same, and to diagnose and repair any misconnections in Council housing stock as part of the re-letting process.'

REPORT:

The proposed motion seeks the inclusion of additional wording to IE 3 Objective 7 to allow for misconnections to be diagnosed and repaired in Council housing stock.

It should be noted that training for the identification of misconnections in Council housing stock will be rolled out in accordance with the Dublin urban Rivers Life Project and staff in the appropriate section of the Council will be trained to carry this out.

It is therefore considered that the additional wording in acceptable.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted to read as follows.

IE3 Objective 7: To protect surface water quality by continuing to assess the impact of domestic and industrial misconnections to the drainage network in the County and the associated impact on surface water quality, and by implementing measures to address same, and to diagnose and repair any misconnections in Council housing stock as part of the re-letting process”
