MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell, Councillor P. Gogarty, Councillor L. O'Toole

Amend E8 Objective 1 to read: To review the current wind energy strategy for the County during the first 12 months of the Plan having regard to any updated wind energy guidelines and to facilitate planning applications on the basis of any revised data.

REPORT:

The proposed motion seeks for E8 Objective 1 as follows:

From: To review the current wind energy strategy for the County during the lifetime of the Plan having regard to any updated wind energy guidelines.

To: To review the current wind energy strategy for the County during the first 12 months of the Plan having regard to any updated wind energy guidelines and to facilitate planning applications on the basis of any revised data.

It is unclear as to when the final Wind Energy Guidelines will be issued and to review the current wind strategy would be considered premature. It is therefore considered E8 Objective 1 as set out in the CE Draft Plan is appropriate.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion is not adopted.
