MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

To amend the development plan - Chapter 8, COS 4 Objective 8 to include 'aspiring to the standards and conditions met for such playing areas by National Governing Bodies'

REPORT:

– This motion is proposing to inert additional wording into COS 4 Objective 8 from:

‘To support the provision of permanent space for well-established sports and recreational activities at appropriate locations within the County’.

To:

‘To support the provision of permanent space for well-established sports and recreational activities at appropriate locations within the County aspiring to the standards and conditions met for such playing areas by National Governing Bodies'.

This motion is considered acceptable with amendment to read:

‘To support the provision of permanent space for well-established sports and recreational activities at appropriate locations within the County aspiring to the standards and conditions met for such playing areas by National Governing Bodies, where feasible and in accordance with proper planning and sustainable development’.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment so that COS 4 Objective 7 will read:

‘To support the provision of permanent space for well-established sports and recreational activities at appropriate locations within the County, aspiring to the standards and conditions met for such playing areas by National Governing Bodies, where feasible and in accordance with proper planning and sustainable development’.
