MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell, Councillor P. Gogarty, Councillor L. O'Toole

Insert COS4 Objective: To make available suitable unused Council-owned brownfield sites and buildings to sport, arts and community groups on a temporary or long-term lease basis.

REPORT:

This motion is proposing the insertion of a new objective which states:

‘To make available suitable unused Council-owned brownfield sites and buildings to sport, arts and community groups on a temporary or long-term lease basis’.

The Planning Department has consulted with Community Department and it is considered that there is no objection in principle but the intent of the motion is very broad in terms of the nature of the activities and the terms proposed. On this basis it is considered that the motion is acceptable with amendments to read:

‘To make available suitable unused Council-owned brownfield sites and buildings to sport, arts and community groups on a temporary or long-term lease basis, where feasible’.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment to the proposed wording. This new objective should read:

‘To make available suitable unused Council-owned brownfield sites and buildings to sport, arts and community groups on a temporary or long-term lease basis, where feasible’.
