MOTION NO.
MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell, Councillor P. Gogarty, Councillor L. O'Toole
Page 227 COS Objective 4 Add in 'and other relevant agencies' after HSE.
REPORT:
The motion seeks to insert the wording 'and other relevant agencies' within COS 6 Objective 4 so that it reads ‘To support the provision of primary care facilities in accordance with the standard of one facility per 7,000-10,000 population as identified by the HSE and other relevant agencies’.
The standard of one facility supporting a population of 7,000-10,000 population emanates from a statement within the Department of Health’s ‘Primary Care Centres Progress Report’ (2019). Primary care centres are part of the Sláintecare vision, the Government’s programme to transform health and social care services.
It is considered appropriate to amend the wording but to do so such that the objective is clear that the standards being supported are those set by the Department of Health (not the HSE as in the existing objective). The revised wording would therefore be as follows:
‘To support the provision of primary care facilities with relevant agencies, in accordance with the standard of one facility per 7,000-10,000 population as identified by the HSE Department of Health’.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the motion is adopted. COS 6 Objective 4 should be amended to state:
‘To support the provision of primary care facilities with relevant agencies, in accordance with the standard of one facility per 7,000-10,000 population as identified by the HSE Department of Health’.
