MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson

In Chapter 8 Community Infrastructure and Open Space under 8.6 Sports Facilities and Centres to add a new objective: COS 4 Objective 10: To support and identify a location for the development of a Motocross track, and to support any applications for national funding available for this purpose.

REPORT:

This motion is proposing a new objective to support and identify a location for development of a Motocross track and support any applications for national funding.

This matter has been examined previously without any success and there has been challenges to finding a suitable location for such a facility. However, it is considered that this motion is acceptable with some amendments to the wording from:

‘To support and identify a location for the development of a Motocross track, and to support any applications for national funding available for this purpose’.

To:

‘To support and where possible identify a location for the development of a Motocross track and to support any applications for national funding available for this purpose where available’

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment to insert a new objective within Policy COS 4 to read:

‘To support and where possible identify a location for the development of a Motocross track and support any applications for national funding where available’.
