Chapter 8 Community Infrastructure & Open Spaces COS 11 Objective 6 Amend Objective to To pursue the development of a Heritage Centre in the Tallaght village with an agreed timeline for the feasibility study and site selection process in the county town of Tallaght within the lifetime of the County Development Plan

REPORT:

 This motion proposed to amend the existing objective COS 11 Objective 6 from:

‘To pursue the development of a Heritage Centre in the Tallaght Village area’.

To:

‘To pursue the development of a Heritage Centre in the Tallaght village with an agreed timeline for the feasibility study and site selection process in the county town of Tallaght within the lifetime of the County Development Plan’.

Tourism related projects are provided for in the Council’s Revenue Budget and elsewhere in the Capital Programme, a specific capital spend of €1.05 has been provided for 2021 to cover a small number of projects, one of which is a Feasibility Study for a Tallaght Heritage Centre.

The feasibility study is budgeted for. It would not be appropriate to indicate the site selection process until the outcome of the feasibility study has been completed and which will inform future budget considerations for site selection.

Recommendation: It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment to read:

‘To continue to pursue the development of a Heritage Centre in the Tallaght village within the lifetime of the County Development Plan’.
