MOTION NO.
MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons
Proactive Services Assessment : Tallaght hospital, Tallaght Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade should be contacted and asked what additional resources they would need to safely service an additional 30K people over the next 15 years in Tallaght town centre area
REPORT:
The motion as proposed is for Proactive Services Assessment that Tallaght hospital, Tallaght Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade should be contacted and asked what additional resources they would need to safely service an additional 30K people over the next 15 years in Tallaght town centre area.
Six stakeholder meetings were organised by the Planning Department as part of the pre-draft public consultation on the South Dublin County Development Plan 2022-2028 during the month of September 2020. All meetings took place via Microsoft Teams online due to restrictions on meeting in person that were in place at that time due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. The six meetings covered all of the eight strategic themes contained in the Issues. Meeting 2 was based on the Theme ‘Community and Placemaking’ on the 14th September 2020 and were attended by a representative from An Garda Siochana, Department of Justice and Tallaght University Hospital. Issues raised in this forum informed the CE Pre-Draft Report.
A further round of public consultation will begin on July 7th 2021 Draft Plan Public Consultation until September 15th 2021which will provide opportunities for further comment on the Draft County Development Plan. It is considered that this motion is part of the process of the making of the Development Plan rather than it being appropriate as an objective.
Furthermore, as part of on-going engagement, departments are in regular contact with the An Garda Siochana including the Joint Policing Committee and with Dublin Fire Brigade, noting that a location for a new Fire Station has been identified at Clonburris.
Recommendation: It is recommended that this motion not be adopted.
