MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

Insert additional Policy COS 11 Objective: To pursue the development of a multi-use Civic Theatre building in North Clondalkin to serve the Clondalkin, Lucan and Palmerstown areas.

REPORT:

The merit of the motion is acknowledged. It is proposed to include a new objective in the Development Plan for the preparation of a feasibility study on the development of Arts and Cultural Infrastructure in the County. The development of a civic theatre in North Clondalkin area to serve the communities of Clondalkin, Lucan and Palmerstown can be investigated as part of this study.

The new objective would read as follows:

‘To prepare a feasibility study for the development of Arts and Culture Infrastructure within the County, taking account of transport links’.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion be adopted with amendment to insert a new objective in Policy COS 8 as follows:

‘To prepare a feasibility study for the development of Arts and Culture Infrastructure within the County, taking account of transport links’.
