Chapter 7 Sustainable Transport Policy 7 Obj Roads: Review and seek to improve the issue of on-street car parking in housing estates to eliminate the road safety and social issues they present

REPORT:

The motion seeks to insert a new objective within Policy SM7 ‘Car Parking and EV Charging’ to state:

‘Review and seek to improve the issue of on-street car parking in housing estates to eliminate the road safety and social issues they present’.

It is considered that the proposed objective is acceptable subject to amendments including the inclusion of the wording ‘where issues of safety are clearly identified’ so that the new objective reads as follows:

‘Review and seek to improve the issue of on-street car parking in housing estates to eliminate the any road safety and or social issues they present, where issues of safety are clearly identified’.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion is adopted with amendments, to include a new objective under Policy SM7 to read as follows:

‘Review and seek to improve the issue of on-street car parking in housing estates to eliminate any road safety or social issues they present, where issues of safety are clearly identified’.
