Community - pg 235 Motion: To amend COS 13 Objective 1 as follows: To facilitate the development of new or extended burial grounds, eco-burial grounds and crematoria, having consideration for the burial preferences of multi-faith and non-religious communities, at suitable locations in the County, subject to appropriate safeguards with regard to environmental considerations, noise and traffic impacts.

REPORT:

The proposed motion seeks to amend COS 13 Objective 1 as follows:

From:

To facilitate the development of new or extended burial grounds and crematoria, having consideration for the burial preferences of multi-faith and non-religious communities, at suitable locations in the County, subject to appropriate safeguards with regard to environmental considerations, noise and traffic impacts.

To:

To facilitate the development of new or extended burial grounds eco-burial grounds and crematoria, having consideration for the burial preferences of multi-faith and non-religious communities, at suitable locations in the County, subject to appropriate safeguards with regard to environmental considerations, noise and traffic impacts.

Having regard to the proposed wording alongside Item ID 71150 It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment such that COS 13 Objective 1 would read as follows:

COS 13 Objective 1:

To facilitate the development of new or extended burial grounds, including green cemeteries/eco-burial grounds, and crematoria, having consideration for the burial preferences of multi-faith and non-religious communities, at suitable locations in the County, subject to appropriate safeguards with regard to environmental considerations, noise and traffic impacts.

It is noted that should motion 71150 be agreed the combined objective would read:

To facilitate the development of new or extended burial grounds, including green cemeteries, eco-burial grounds, and crematoria, having consideration for the burial preferences of multi-faith and non-religious communities, at suitable locations in the County, subject to appropriate safeguards with regard to environmental considerations, noise and traffic impacts.

 

 Recommendation It is recommended that this motion is adopted to read:
