Community - pg 234 Motion: To insert a new objective to Policy COS 11 To support the arts and culture by facilitating community groups to use vacant or unused council premises for exhibitions, performances and other uses related to community arts.

REPORT:

 This motion is proposing a new objective under Arts and Culture, which reads:

‘To support the arts and culture by facilitating community groups to use vacant or unused council premises for exhibitions, performances and other uses related to community arts’.

It is considered that this motion is generally acceptable, but it is proposed to amend this wording further to read:

‘To support the arts and culture by facilitating community groups to use vacant or unused council premises for exhibitions, performances and other uses related to community arts, where suitable’.

Recommendation: It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment. The wording of the new objective COS 11 Objective 7 is:

‘To support the arts and culture by facilitating community groups to use vacant or unused council premises for exhibitions, performances and other uses related to community arts, where suitable’
