MOTION NO.

MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That the Development Plan commits the Council to the provision of additional arts, culture and performing arts facilities in the County, taking account of transport links.

REPORT:

The intent of the motion is noted. Having consulted with the arts officer, it is considered appropriate to include a new objective in the Development Plan for the preparation of a feasibility study on the development of Arts and Cultural Infrastructure in the County. Transport links would be dealt with as part of this study.  

The new objective would read as follows: 

‘To prepare a feasibility study for the development of Arts and Culture Infrastructure within the County. taking account of transport links. 

Recommendation:  It is recommended that the motion be adopted with amendments, to insert a new objective under Policy COS 11 as follows: 

‘To prepare a feasibility study for the development of Arts and Culture Infrastructure within the County, taking account of transport links’
