MOTION: Councillor B. Lawlor, Councillor S. O'Hara

To relocate the Western Dublin Orbital Route (south) from Table 6.6 (Medium to Long Term Road Projects) to Table 6.5 (Six Year Road Projects)

REPORT:

The motion seeks to relocate the Western Dublin Orbital Route (south) from Table 7.6 Medium to Long Term Road Projects to Table 7.5 Six Year Road Projects. (It is noted that the table numbers referred in the motion are from the current County Development Plan 2016-2022).

The Council recognises that some expansion of the strategic road network is required to provide access to developing areas and to support the economic development of the County. It should be noted however, that this specific road proposal is currently being reviewed as part of the National Transport Authority (NTA) GDA Transport Strategy review. Until such time as this review is complete it would be premature to move this objective to Table 7.5 ‘Six Year Road Projects’. It is understood that the GDA Strategy review will be completed by the end of this year and any outcome can be considered in further stages of the Development Plan process.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the motion is not adopted.
