MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson

In Chapter 6 Housing to remove the words 'or lease' from H1 Objective 6: "To ensure the selection of land or housing units to purchase or lease by the Council, including Part V, counteracts undue segregation by persons of different social backgrounds."

REPORT:

The motion seeks to amend H1 Objective 6 by removing the words ‘or lease’

Leasing forms a large part of the range of social housing delivery mechanisms available to South Dublin County Council which is supported by central government. To remove this wording would not stop leasing but it would mean that it was not covered by the intent of the motion to counteract undue segregation by persons of different social backgrounds. It is therefore considered that this motion is not adopted.

Recommendation: It is recommended that this motion is not adopted.
