MOTION NO. 15

MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

That the Manager ensures no public green space is given over to provide parking for large developers in the RTFB area.

REPORT:

The Public Realm Section will make every effort to ensure that green spaces are not given over to developers for parking, as requested here.  It should be noted that such arrangements are only entered into when there is little or no other option available to builders and developers, or when the available alternatives are not desirable in themselves.  It is not in the interest of the Council or local residents to have excessive parking taking place on public roads close to development sites, potentially causing a hazard or interfering with traffic flow in the area.  Any request received in relation to the use of a green space will be examined closely to determine what the best option might be.   In some cases contractors working on Council projects will need to be facilitated to ensure that schemes get completed in a timely manner.
