QUESTION NO. 10
QUESTION: Councillor S. O'Hara
"To ask the Chief Executive, to investigate leakage of sewage onto N81 at Brittas. Sewage is seeping from a welded manhole on a regular basis located at the junction of the N81 and McDonagh's lane beside the Blue Gardenia. The health and safety of pedestrians are at risk including children coming and going to the St Martin's NS. Cyclists also badly affected and at risk of accident as they divert past and hold their nose with one hand. Motorists joining the N81 (downhill) may also slide on such slime straight onto the N81 risking serious accidents. This sewage seems to then make its way into the storm drain and surfaces again on the Tallaght side of the N81 before ending up in Britta's ponds. The health & safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists compromised. Please order the offending party to fix permanently and urgently."
REPLY:
The offending manhole and another upstream manhole were cleaned of their content and power washed on the morning of Monday 10th May 2021. The manholes will be monitored and the Council is working with property owners in the area to resolve the matter.
