REPLY

On March 3rd 2006 , the Department of Heritage and Local Government approved funding for South Dublin County Council's Pilot Window Upgrade / Renewal Programme from its internal capital receipts in the sum of € 5, 046,000.

The pilot window upgrade / renewal porogramme will commence in 2006 and will include some 622 dwellings in designated estates , including St Marks Grove in Clondalkin and Kiltipper , Kilcarrig and Drumcairn Estates in Tallaght.

Following completion of ' A Condition Survey ' of the windows in these estates the tendering process will be initiated based on the survey results.

The Council's Architectural Services Department has indicated that based on the number of dqellings requiring double glazed units and the scope of the works required , a county wide window upgrade / renewal programme is likely to be phased in over a six year period from 2006 to 2011.

The delivery of subsequent phases of the window upgrade / renewal programme will be determined on completion of the 2006 pilot programme.

In the meantime the Housing Department Response Maintenance Section will continue to ensure that essential repairs and maintenance works will continue to be carried out.
