MOTION NO. 15

MOTION: Councillor E. Murphy

To ask the Council and the Assets Management Unit to formally confirm that Whitechurch Library is registered on the list of assets in the County in order to progress the proposed works at the library for the WEB Project and to ensure that there are no further delays or hinderances to the development of the facilities for the service users

REPORT:

The Whitechurch Old Library Building is on the Council’s Fixed Asset Register. The building was formerly used as a library but arrangements have been made to move it from the Library Services' Fixed Assets to the Community Services Department's Fixed Assets and a management licence has been established with the WEB Project Board of Management for the management of the facility.

The local Community Development Team will continue to liaise and assist the WEB Project BOM to progress the Changing Space Project Proposal.  Advice and assistance has also been provided to by the Council’s Conservation Officer to advise on the proposed works as the Library building is a protected and conserved structure.

The Council has allocated a funding of €72,600 towards the costs associated with the proposed works.
