MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor Yvonne Collins

That the Chief Executive confirms that the rehabilitation of rural hedgerows initiative shall extend to this area and that any planning permissions for development issued shall be consistent with this initiative, in order to maintain and protect our native hedgerows.

REPORT:

Planning applications are assessed in respect of the policies and objectives of the current South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016 – 2022. The development plan includes significant policies under Chapter 8 Green Infrastructure and Chapter 9 Heritage, Conservation & Landscapes in relation to hedgerow protection.
The process of preparing a new Development Plan is underway and the potential policy amendments to integrate new rural hedgerow policies and initiatives can be considered in that process.
