MOTION NO. 5
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
That the Manager engages with the residents of Mount Carmel Park in Firhouse to deal with the impact of increased numbers of visitors to the Weir, especially in light of continuing Level Five restrictions.
REPORT:
At all times throughout the various different levels of Covid 19 restrictions the public have been encouraged to use their local parks in a manner that is compliant with public health advice for the purpose of exercise. The Council is aware that during periods of fine weather in 2020 there were gatherings of people at the Firhouse weir that were not in accordance with Covid guidelines. Every effort will be made in the current year to prevent these occuring again this year. It is obviously for An Garda Siochana to enforce the law in relation to this matter and the Council will work closely with the Gardai in this regard. The park ranger service and public realm supervisors and staff will monitor and will provide information to the Gardai to help them enforce this matter.
