D12 Bike / Bus Route

D12 Bike Bus Scheme overview

Dear Members,

Please find below a short introductory presentation of the D12 Bike Bus scheme. AS the design progresses a more detailed presentation will be made at a future ACM.

SDCC are progressing the design and implementation of cycle facilities along a route used by parents who accompany their children to/from schools’ in the Perrystown /Templeogue area as part of the ‘D12 Bike Bus’.

SDCC is investigating the potential for interventions which will provide dedicated facilities for the Bike Bus and for the general benefit of cyclists in the area, with the objective of providing safe routes to schools along the route such as Holy Spirit Primary School and Riverview Educate Together National School.

These interventions are expected to include the provision of segregated cycle tracks where sufficient space exists, reallocation of road space for cycle lanes, widening of existing pedestrian & cycle routes in Greenhills Park & Tymon Park as well as increased priority for cyclists at junctions.

The overall scheme, which commences in Cork Street, will be delivered in collaboration with Dublin City Council.

SDCC will deliver the section of the scheme to the south of Kimmage Road West/Cromwellsfort Road.

It is intended that installation of the measures will commence in the Summer following public consultation on the preferred route planned for Q2 2021.
