QUESTION: Cllr. Fintan McCarthy

To ask the Manager what traffic management plans will be put in place countywide for the duration of the Ryder Cup tournament next September? 

REPLY:

The Director of Transportation and staff from the Planning Department have attended a number of meetings over the last number of months regarding the Ryder Cup. In particular, the use of Weston Aerodrome for park & ride facilities has been the subject of discussion as have the traffic implications on the use of the aerodrome as a temporary park and ride on the road network in the vicinity.  

 

It has been determined that planning permission is required to use Weston aerodrome as a temporary park & ride facility. It is understood that a planning application will be lodged for this facility in the near future. Any planning application will be adjudicated on,  having regard to the policies and objectives of the County Development Plan 2004 -2010 and to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
