QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

"To ask the Chief Executive for a report into ongoing dumping in car park of Main Street? What can the Council do to ensure a long term solution?"

REPLY:

It is acknowledged that dumping at this location is an ongoing issue and the Council continues to engage with the owners representative in order to identify a long term solution. A further clean up of the illegally dumped material at this location was carried out recently.

All incidents of littering and illegal dumping at this location are investigated. As always, the Council is grateful for assistance and support from local residents or others in their investigations of incidents of littering and illegal dumping as they arise. In the absence of substantive evidence / witness statements and the presence of such witnesses in court it is not possible for us to bring successful prosecutions.
