QUESTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"To ask the Chief Executive if Council can improve the traffic control at the junction of Fonthill Road and Cherrywood Ave by offering a priority access from Cherrywood Ave during peak traffic times?"

REPLY:

The junction of a Fonthill Road and Cherrywood Avenue is controlled by a roundabout.

The roundabout was provided as the part of the Quality Bus Corridor scheme following a public consultation process. The roundabout is required to provide a u-turn facility for traffic exiting the Old Nangor Road from Clondalkin which wishes to turn north.

No alternative to the roundabout exists while retaining this u-turn facility.
