MOTION: Councillor Alan Edge

That in accordance with the wishes of local schools and the aim of the Sports Pitch Strategy to ensure maximum flexibility, the new pitch at Mount Carmel will have portable goals to ensure its suitability for multiple sports.

REPORT:

The Sports Pitch Strategy recommends that flexibility be maintained in pitch designation in line with the needs of the area.

A new grass pitch has been constructed at Dodder Valley Mt Carmel as per the design of the Part 8 for the project. The pitch is a full sized soccer pitch and, as usual per recent soccer pitch constructions, permanent goal posts are not planned.

The Council's pitch allocation team in Public Realm Administration manage the annual allocation of pitches to clubs. They will decide the allocation of this pitch once it is established and available for use. It is recommended that any parties, clubs or schools, interested in an annual pitch allocation, contact the public realm administration team at email: publicrealm@SDUBLINCOCO.ie  so they can assess the need in the area and plan accordingly.
