QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor Carly Bailey

To ask the Chief Executive would he consider providing a local library for the Greenhills, Perrystown, Templogue area of SDCC.

REPLY:

"Open to You South Dublin Library Development Plan 2018-2022 identified as priority actions the construction and opening of two new libraries at North Clondalkin and Castletymon. North Clondalkin Library opened to the public in December 2020 and Castletymon will open in 2021. There are plans to replace two mobile vans in 2021, one of which has been delivered at the end of 2020, with the other one expected mid year. The team plan for this year also identifies the selection of a library site in the Rathcoole environs as a priority.

Further areas for new libraries can be considered as part of a new Library Devlopment Plan, but currently Ballyroan Library serves sthe population of Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Firhouse and Bohernabreena areas. Dublin City Council also has libraries located in the Walkinstown and the Terenure areas".
