MOTION: Councillor Alan Edge

That the Chief Executive asks all waste removal contractors to take great care not to drive on footpaths and verges within the estates in this Area.

REPORT:

Any person wishing to operate a waste collection business must have a collection permit issued under Section 34 of the Waste Management Act 1996 by the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO).

Currently there are 109 permit holders based in South Dublin County Council.

The Waste Enforcement and Licensing Section will correspond with current permit holders and request that they take necessary measures to avoid driving on estate footpaths and verges and liaise with our colleagues in the Transportation directorate in relation to the application of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations, 1997.
