MOTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
This Council agrees that it will be a core objective of this Development Plan to increase public transport links and permeability around existing and future rail links.
REPORT:
Pedestrian and cyclist permeability and connectivity to public transport corridors will be
a key consideration in placemaking policy and in this regard, the Cycle South Dublin strategy will have a central role. A mobility study is also being carried out as part of the preparation of the draft Development Plan which will further inform policy in the Plan with a view to promoting active modes and and improving access to public transport. The motion is supported by the CE Strategic Recommendation ‘Support the delivery of a sustainable movement study and the Cycle South Dublin Strategy to promote permeable and compact communities with access to amenities, businesses, employment and retail areas and to improve mobility’.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that this motion be amended as follows:
‘Increase public transport links and permeability around existing and future rail and public transport links’.
