MOTION NO. 55

MOTION: Councillor T. Costello

That this council ensures all the SDCC Traditional village centres should be kept as vibrant and sustainable centres and follow a consistent design statement befitting their historic character and origins

REPORT:

It is a strategic recommendation to promote compact growth in line with the NPF and RSES through the inclusion of specific policies and targeted/measurable implementation measures that: encourage infill / brownfield development and focus growth on the County’s designated strategic development areas.

In addition, it is a CE strategic recommendation to provide for the protection, preservation and promotion of the built heritage, including architectural heritage an archaeological heritage throughout the county.

 Such measures will contribute towards the maintenance of traditional village centres as vibrant and sustainable centres.

Recommendation:   It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
