MOTION NO. 86

MOTION: Councillor B. Lawlor, Councillor V. Casserly, Councillor K. Egan, Councillor David McManus, Councillor Baby Pereppadan, Councillor S. O'Hara, Councillor L. McCrave

That the County Development Plan ensures that new street signage is reflective of the addresses used in the Register of Electors.

REPORT:

There are many different types of signage provided within the County.  Traffic signage is prescribed under the Traffic?Signs?Manual 2010 (TSM), issued by the Department of Transport. Where South Dublin County Council are installing signage the road name that was identified for the taking in charge process must be used. Nameplates for developments are installed following agreement with the Council by private developers.

The current County Development Plan sets out a number of policy provisions relating to signage which are more specific to the design/format and layout of signage within the County.  This policy will be reviewed as part of the Draft Plan preparationHowever, it is considered that the issue of street signage being reflective of the addresses used in the Register of Electors is not an issue which can be addressed in the County Development Plan.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the motion is not adopted
