MOTION NO. 67

MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That this Council includes an appropriate objective to secure the preservation and enhancement of the Mill Lane heritage and amenity area in Palmerstown.

REPORT:

The principle of this motion is welcomed as it seeks the protection and enhancement of built heritage in the County. However, given the strategic nature of this stage of the plan making process it is considered that this motion is overly specific.

Recommendation: 

It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment to recognise that this type of policy provision or objective is overly detailed for this strategic stage but could be considered as part of the draft plan preparation on foot of the strategic direction provided under the CE Strategic Recommendation (See Part 3) page 27 as follows;

‘Provide for the protection, preservation and promotion of the built heritage, including architectural heritage and archaeological heritage’.
