MOTION: Councillor B. Lawlor, Councillor V. Casserly, Councillor K. Egan, Councillor David McManus, Councillor Baby Pereppadan, Councillor S. O'Hara, Councillor L. McCrave

That the County Development Plan includes a special provision for older people accommodation to provide for those who wish to down-size, both from private and from social homes 

REPORT: 

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2022 – 2028 will promote a greater variety and mix of dwelling types and dwelling sizes in all communities to promote a better mix of age groups and household formations within all communities including downsizing. 

Recommendation: It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment: 

That this Development plan enshrines the concept of right sizing and aims to provide significant numbers of right sized accommodation during the period of the plan.
