That the Chief Executive gives a detailed report on proposed housing Part 8s due to be presented to SDCC by area and where current Part 8s agreed are at?
REPLY:
The Council currently has twelve Part 8 approved social housing developments for a total of 424 new homes (several of which solely or partially comprise age friendly/older persons' accommodation) that are at varying stages of development. In addition, a further part 8 has been approved for 133 homes in the proposed affordable rental development at Belgard Square North.
Five of the approved social housing developments, comprising 113 homes, commenced construction in mid/late 2020 with completion dates projected from late 2021 onwards. The remaining seven approved social housing developments totalling 311 new homes as well as the Belgard Square development are largely anticipated to start on site during 2021 or be at contractor tender stage.
An additional proposal for a social housing development in Lindisfarne is due before Council at this meeting for decision on a revised design comprising 19 homes. Four other possible social housing developments as well as a mixed tenure development of social and affordable housing in Phase 1 of Clonburris SDZ have also previously variously been signalled to the Elected Members at full Council and/or Area Committee meetings and are at different stages of preparation for possible Part 8 public consultation.
