Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy, Update.
REPLY:
The Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy was published by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications on 4th September 2020. This new national waste policy will inform and give direction to waste planning and management in Ireland over the coming years. It will be followed later this year by an All of Government Circular Economy Strategy.

Only by integrating sustainable policies into all aspects of our society and economy can Ireland move towards a decarbonised future that thrives while protecting the natural environment and our critical resources. Nationally, the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications plans to build these policies around:
It will be necessary to align SDCC policies with the Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy. This will be done through the SDCC Climate Chnage Action Plan and by coordinating our plans with the Regional Waste Management Planning Office and with the Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLA's).
A review of the SDCC Recycling Strategy will shortly commence, with draft proposals due to be brought to the SPC in February 2021.
