SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO.1
QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello
"To ask the Chief executive can you give details of areas covered in Tallaght for Road Sweeping, is there a schedule and are requests from estates accepted?"
REPLY:
The Council has in place a contract with Oxigen Environmental Ltd for the provision of services which include road sweeping, litter picking, gulley cleaning, leaf removal and weed control. Road sweeping is provided on all main roads and housing estates on a scheduled basis, with main roads generally swept monthly and housing estates swept quarterly. It should be noted that the frequency of sweeping has been doubled in certain areas to twice per month on main roads and twice per quarter on housing estate roads, in the areas of West Tallaght and North Clondalkin. The sweeping and removal of leaves occurs between 1 September and 31 January under the terms of the contract, this work is not done to a pre-determined schedule but is responsive to the timing of leaf fall and receipt of requests for leaf removal from local residents. Information regarding sweeping dates for individual estates can be provided on request by the Council's Public Realm Section. Work is currently underway to make this information available to the public through the Council's website.
