QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan
To ask the Chief Executive as to what investigation and mitigation measures have been taken to address noise pollution issues coming from the Fonthill Industrial estate.
REPLY:
The Environmental Health Department received reports of noise coming from the Glanbia site in the Fonthill Industrial Estate.
Officers attended the complainants home to assess the noise on the morning of the 16th of the September 2020.
At this time it was not possible to witness the noise whilst standing in the upstairs bedroom.
Whilst standing in the garden it was possible to hear a faint noise in the distance, however the noise would not be classed as a noise nuisance.
It is understood that Glanbia have actively engaged with the customer in relation to the noise.
The following measures have been undertaken by Glanbia:
The complainant has reported these measures have not reduced the noise in question.
Please be aware that South Dublin County Council did not request these measures and were not in a position to request such measures given the noise could not be substantiated.
It is understood these measures were implemented in response to two complaints received from Mount Andrew and Liffey Lawn.
A second noise survey has been undertaken to measure the noise levels following the adoption of the noise mitigation measures.
Glanbia have advised that they will be issuing the report to the relevant complainant.
Council officers have attended the Glanbia site on multiple occasions and have been unable to identify the noise reported.
To date Officers have not witnessed the noise and have been unable to substantiate this complaint.
At this stage no further action is proposed by the Environmental Health Department.
