QUESTION: Councillor Patrick Pearse Holohan
"To ask the Chief Executive how much money gets put into the facilities to encourage and normalise breastfeeding for mothers in public and/or council owned buildings including feeding rooms, advertising, promotion & encouragement?"
REPLY:
As per General Application Regulations 2007, Section 24 on pregnant, postnatal and breastfeeding employees. SDCC as an Employer provides for such staff to lie down or to rest in appropriate conditions with required facilities.
There is no provision under this legislation requiring that the public are provided such facilities in public offices or Council owned buildings.
