MOTION: Councillor Yvonne Collins

That this Committee, in light of the number of complaints made in relation to the hazardous condition of footpaths throughout the electoral area, considers carrying out a safety audit with a view to prioritising and carrying out necessary repairs as a matter of urgency, given the implications of a fall for residents, particularly elderly residents.

 

REPORT:

Road Maintenance does not have the resources to carry out a safety audit on all the footpaths in the county. The Road and Footpath programme is prioritised on the basis of Area Engineer and Inspector inspections, Councillor queries and complaints from the public. The Programme is also restricted based on the allocation for road and footpath repairs at the Budget.
