MOTION NO. 1

MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

Motion Lucan Village Green Corporate Support This Committee asks the CE to update the members on the plans for the village green area. To ask that it includes a timeframe and to advise if Covid 19 has made an impact on the design. Management may be aware than concerns have been brought to our attention from business owners regarding Parklet plans in the village area and have asked that the village green be used to its full potential to incorporate additional pedestrian seating/facilities etc and to maintain it regularly.

REPORT:

 A tender is currently advertised for the appointment of a mutli-disciplinary team led by landscape architects to re-purpose and upgrade the village green.  As the tender process is still live an indicative timeframe at this stage cannot be provided, however once a team is appointed to the project an indicative timeframe can be shared with the members.  In addition as no concept design has been progressed covid has not had an impact on the design process but the design team appointed will ensure any design proposals are future proofed.

The tender brief for the village green has made reference to the provision of seating in the village green and the project team will liaise with our colleagues in Land Use Planning and Transportation to ensure the design team appointed are made aware of the concerns raised by business owners in relation to parklet plans for the village.
