MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That this Area Committee calls for the provision of Bottle Banks as part of the design of the Neilstown Shopping Centre District Centre Upgrade.

REPORT:

The Council's Environment, Water and Climate Change Directorate has consulted the Planning Department regarding the provision of bottle banks as part of the design of Neilstown Shopping Centre Upgrade. The Planning Department has agreed to raise the principle of providing appropriate waste management facilities and the potential location of a bottle bank at the shopping centre as part of the pre-planning discussion. The meeting for this pre-planning discussion is scheduled for 12 November 2020.

It is also to be noted that a previous request made by the Environment Dept for permission to locate a bottle bank at the current shopping centre was refused by the Neilstown Shopping Centre Management.
