MOTION NO. 15
MOTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
That the Chief Executive Officer reports on if there are there any plans to develop cycle lanes from Shackleton Park to Lucan village? There is a great cycle lane in Shackleton, but it ends quickly after leaving the estate.
REPORT:
The Council are planning the launch of a new cycling strategy called 'Cycle South Dublin' which will take place in November 2020.
It's vision is 'For South Dublin to become one of Ireland’s most cycle friendly counties'.
And it's objectives are to;
The strategy identifies cycle priorities for the next 10 - 15 years, with projects listed in categories such as Now - where projects are either under way or in planning for the next 4 years. 'Soon' projects - will be carried out within 4 - 8 years, and 'Later' projects within the next 8+ years.
Under this proposed plan for Cycle South Dublin (CySD) there is no proposal for a cycle track to be designed for the roads linking Shackleton Park and Lucan Village.
