QUESTION NO. 13
QUESTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan
To ask the Chief Executive for a list of all residents associations/neighnourhood watches/local resident groups which deal with the Council and whether they are registered with the PPN.
REPLY:
The Community Department does not maintain register of resident’s associations/neighbourhood watches or local resident groups and there is no requirement to do so. While all groups who apply for funding under the various grant schemes are required to be registered with the PPN, it is the PPN who hold the registration details.
The community development team are available and do, assist such groups with queries including:
- applying for grants
- setting up new residents associations
- access to other council services
Through the Community, Social and Equality SPC a Resident's Association Handbook is being drafted to support new and existing resident's associations which is hoped to be available before the end of the year.
Information on neighbourhood watch schemes is held by An Garda Siochana.
