QUESTION: Councillor Alan Edge

What is the Council's policy on extending council-owned properties for the benefit of existing council tenants who are not in a position to buy or to seek a transfer?

REPLY:

The Council will consider extending a Council owned property only where the tenant has specific requirements for an adaption/extension to meet medical needs.

Other tenants whose accommodation needs are not met in their current home can apply for a transfer on the following grounds:

• exceptional medical/compassionate grounds
• anti-social behaviour
• older persons & other tenants rightsizing accommodation
• overcrowding
• to facilitate better use of housing stock
