MOTION NO. 16

MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the operation of the Paid Parking system in the LAC area and to include the cost of managing the system and the total income for the period Jan to Dec 2019 and to make a statement.

REPORT:

Data as requested is not maintained on an electoral area basis.

The following is an outline of the cost of the contract for 2019, and income received for the county at large.

This figure does not include payroll cost for Council staff engaged in the management of the contract on a routine basis.  

Similarly, relative to work programmes involving reviews of ByeLaws and invitation to tender an addition input is required from a multidisciplinary team, including technical and senior staff.

With specific reference to the above:  The Council currently has a mini-Competition published through the OGP for the provision of Managed Car Parking Services, with a view to having a new single supplier in place in Q1 2021, and a review of Parking Byelaws is also currently in hand, with an update on the public consultation being presented to the LUPT SPC at an adjourned meeting on this coming Thursday, 1st October 2020.
